Introduction:

Now running Real Yorkshire Tours, I qualified as a Yorkshire Blue Badge Guide in May 2015.

I am a registered Blue Badge Driver Guide for the region and can chauffeur visitors in my luxury 4x4 hybrid Volvo XC90 around the region in style. It is my aim to take the hassle out of your stay whilst ensuring that you get to make the most of your visit to Yorkshire.

I can help bring to life Yorkshire's wonderful history and landscape, take you to the best photo spots, show you Yorkshire's hidden gems and of course know all the best places for eating and drinking!

I can incorporate walking trips depending on how energetic people are feeling and can cater for individuals, couples or families. Larger groups can also be catered for.

I love wildlife, geology, sport, walking, local history, food and photography.

Let me show you the "Real Yorkshire" and make your stay extra special. Hope to see you soon!

Personal Interests:

All things Yorkshire!
Whitby, Staithes & the Yorkshire Coast
The Yorkshire Dales
Geology & palaeontology
Wildlife
The History of York
Geography & the landscape

Special Interests:

Industrial Heritage

Whether its the industrial revolution and Yorkshire's wool and textile heritage, Hull and the Yorkshire coast and its fishing heritage, the Dales and its lead mining, the Alum industry in the North York Moors or Sheffield and its heavy industry and steel - There are great stories to be told.

Churches & Cathedrals

I am a Qualified York Minster Guide - let me take you round this magnificent building and help bring it to life. It really is such a wonderful building -the largest Cathedral in Northern Europe with over 60% of the UK's medieval stained glass.

Castles & Palaces

With a love of history - every one of Yorkshire's castles or palaces has its won story to tell.

Let me guide you through their timelines and bring to life the characters who lived there!

Stately Homes & Country Houses

I have close contacts at many of the Yorkshire based stately homes and country houses. Let me take you there and show you around - I can often gain special access to areas off the beaten track and show you hidden gems to make your tour special.

Geography & Geology

With a degree in Geography and Geology I can help you interpret the landscape.

I can take you back to when rocks were formed and explain how the features unique to Yorkshire were formed. I have a pretty good knowledge of fossils too -which comes in handy when running fossil hunting trips for families

Birds & Animals

Wildlife, including plants & trees as well as animals, birds, reptiles and amphibians have always been a one of my passions.

Yorkshire is home to so much wildlife, including many different and unique habitats, let me show you some!

History & Prehistory

I have always had an interest in history, and as George VI once said "the History of York is the history of England". This is so true and I can guide you around the historical sites of not just York but the whole of Yorkshire.

I also have a specific interest in pre-history and can tailor a days out to show visitors standing stones, stone circles and other bronze age or neolithic sites.

Walking Tours

I love the landscape and bringing it to life for visitors to Yorkshire. I can tailor walking tours to all abilities and interests, whether you just want a stroll in the Yorkshire Dales, to climb the Yorkshire Three Peaks, walk the Cleveland Way coastal path or trek across the beautiful heather moorland of the North York Moors.
