Let me introduce myself... |
Before making London my base, I was raised in the quintessential picture postcard village that has given me an equally sharp perspective when guiding in town or country.
As Chair of the Guild of Registered Tourist Guides, an organization of over 800 members, my duties working to promote the Blue Badge keep me at the heart of all need-to-know developments in the guiding profession. Constant feedback with other Blue Badge Guides has given me a wider understanding and greater appreciation of just how much variety I can offer visitors with my tours.
Devising niche itineraries over half a day or several days is another specialty. Recent clients have requested tours with such varied themes as religious iconic art, Renaissance scholars, arts and crafts in the UK, 20th century city architecture, country gardens in Spring as well as the straightforward popular 'London highlights' tour.
My tours can involve using public transport, private vehicle hire or simply walking.
Although my career began as a magazine art editor, a life-long love of architecture has lead me to bring all previous experience into guiding the quirky, beautiful, mysterious and thought-provoking. I believe my role as a guide is that of story-teller - informing but above all making sure that all my visitors have the most enjoyable and memorable tour possible. |

London Areas in Depth Our multifaceted Capital still has the power to surprise, excite and delight me even after 30 years of living here. While exploring one or two of its more special locations, I expect my enthusiasm will make London an enticing experience for you too.
Art/Paintings & Sculpture Trained in fine art and design, I keep myself fully informed of exhibitions and trends and can show you the best in historic and contemporary culture.
Walking Tours Focussing on chosen subjects and areas is what a well-researched and planned Blue Badge walking tour is all about. Taking the time to stop and look as we talk can turn a leisurely stroll into a fun as well as informative voyage of discovery.
Architecture From the mediaeval world of the stonemason to engineered steel and glass towers architecture is key to understanding Britain's past and future. Guiding the centuries through the built environment around us today is my speciality.
Gardens One of my greatest enjoyments in guiding is being asked to share my knowledge and experience as a keen gardener when leading tours through our great landscaped parks or ingeniously designed small urban spaces.
Countryside A self-confessed city slicker, I am fiercely loyal to my rural Essex roots. Once the centre of Roman occupation, my native county will enchant and fascinate you with such gems as the oldest surviving wooden building in Europe retaining its original use.
